Apple Pie Day

For those of you who don't know- "Apple Pie Day" at the Oregon capitol building is a day when homeschoolers from around the state attend a rally. Many people bake and deliver apple pies to the legislators- who, it is generally surmised, appreciate the sight of polite, neatly dressed children carrying pies in their direction. Tours are given, homeschool bands and choirs perform, and a few pro-homeschool legislators come out to give speeches during the rally. As you can see from the umbrellas in the picture, it rained- but not for long.

Our family didn't deliver a pie this year- we just showed up for the rally. To all the volunteers- some of whom we know, thank you for your efforts! They were greatly appreciated.

A nice structure- but I prefer Boston's concept of what a Capitol building should look like. But then again, I prefer pretty much whatever they like over there.

If someone replaced this pioneer with a enormous academy award- I don't think anyone would notice. Really.

Children in the choir.

I really like the picture of the flower. This event sounds very interesting.
