Our Week

Man, I wish I could move my eyebrows like that.

Life has been busy here with Script Frenzy, my parent's trip, and- other things. I'm going to give a brief summary of the last few days- hope you enjoy....

When mini home disasters happen, I'm usually not happy. Or to rephrase that- I'm never happy. But sometimes, a little while after a certain event happens, I find it somewhat humorous. This week fruit punch was spilled in the silverware drawer, one boy shocked himself by sticking his hand up the refrigerator ice dispenser, a dead cat was dug up, and someone almost left the Costco groceries in the parking lot.

If we had our own Academy Awards ceremony for this week- I know for certain which film would win.

It would go something like this:

BEST PICTURE
"Baby Eating Shredded Wheat Dust."
This poignant movie captures the sheer joy of a child who has just emptied the contents of a cereal box...

[My acceptance speech]
Thank you one and all for the reward you have given our film. When I came around the corner one day, after my little sister had spilled fruit punch in the silverware drawer, I was greeted by the sight of my toddler brother cramming shredded wheat dust into his mouth. I just kind of stood there for a moment- then impulsively called for a video camera. Resistance was futile. The mess would be picked up eventually- but no good filmmaker passes up a chance to capture life at its finest.

BEST SONG
"Hollering Child Blues" written and performed by Jerome Isaac. It's rhythm is impeccably superb.......yell....flick, flick.....yell.....flick.......yell.....flick. Well, you get the idea.

BEST DIRECTOR
My grandfather. Yes, he wins the award hands down for letting all the "actors" stay up till ten and eat three gallons of ice cream. I retreated to my room and wrote.

Now for the dead cat adventure:

Digging up Ginger the Dead Cat was my idea. I've tossed the idea around for a while, and had no qualms about actually doing it. I wasn't actually going to do the work- I was willing to, but why go to all that effort when you have brothers?I  was the head archaeologist. They just obeyed my orders. Ginger had been buried for at least 6 years. She had rested in peace long enough, we thought- it was time for us homeschoolers to unearth what we thought would be a gleaming, intact skeleton of a large cat.

Just looking at this picture makes me feel like Jerry Cruncher from A Tale of Two Cities.
Viva la felines!

And the- er, result. I will be posting more pictures of the skull later-

Stay tuned,

Natalie
